PRLog (Press Release) – Mar 30, 2011 – With the insane results of our aluminum Y-Pipe kit for the Porsche Panamera Turbo, we wanted to step up the luxury look of the engine bay with a full carbon fiber version. This carbon fiber Y-Pipe is a full replacement and includes everything you need to install in place of the original.

Looking at the stock Y design in front of the throttle body, we new there were improvements to be made. This throttle body is the same size as the Cayenne TT throttle body we use on our 996 android application TT and 997TT upgrade kits. The stock Y-Pipe is a 2 piece plastic Y design that is smooth on the inside with a "deflector" internally to channel air. The bad part about the stock one is it goes from a 78mm ID at the throttle body down to a approximately 51mm diameter Y split. This then connects to rubber boost hoses that expand under pressure. Both of these are a power robbers! If you retain the stock design and stock diameter hoses, YOU CANNOT GAIN power no matter if the YPipe is cast aluminum or plastic. This is why we made a complete Y-Pipe kit which retains a 3inch diameter design all the way to the factory end piece connections at the intercoolers.

The dyno sheet shows the car in standard mode with the stock Y piece versus our big Y-Pipe kit. These are huge gains throughout the ENTIRE rpm band which is impressive. However the market seems to be coping very well. The only real challenge has been the amount of duplicate stock in certain sectors but the vendors who have this issue are being realistic with their pricing and this has helped to keep the market moving. In the past we would have seen a backlog of vehicles and no homes for them.

End users are plentiful in the auction halls and traders are reporting that there's plenty of traffic visiting their retail sites. The word seems to be that as the end of the tax year approaches, those with spare money are being advised to reinvest and for many a replacement van for their business seems like a good investment.

< android application p>As always late plate, low mileage vehicles are in short supply and this is pushing prices way beyond what we would normally expect to achieve. Another flourishing sector of the market is Tippers. Each one that comes up for auction is hotly contested, which hopefully suggests that the building industry is finally on the up and that the economy is getting stronger.   

Not everyone is thriving, though. Some traders we have spoken to are struggling to fill their sites and those who would normally operate with 50+ vehicles for sale are down near the 25 mark, such is the competition at auction at present. The view seems to be that the buoyant market will continue for the next few weeks and the only blip on the horizon is the end of April when the bank holidays all come at once. After that, the market should return strongly until we reach the summer holidays and the seasonal drop off.

Container lines go for broke in search of intra-Asia growth: Following several weeks of speculation, news broke in January 2011 that Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) had placed an order for two 8,888 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) vessels. The move follows a statement from Stephan Sui-Kow, OOCL's director of corporate planning, earlier in December 2010 that the line was 'looking at 8,000TEU [vessels] and up to 13,000TEU'. The size of the vessels ordered highlights the line's continued focus on transpacific and intra-Asia services, which typically utilise mid-sized vessels.

Expansion trend also seen among terminal operators: Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), the terminalsoperating arm of Hong Kong-based company Hutchison Whampoa, has announced goverment technology plans to list its interests in southern China and Hong Kong in Singapore, a strategy that will reportedly enable the newly formed company to expand its container-ports-related businesses in the region. HPH intends to set up a new company, the Hutchison Port Holdings Trust (HPH Trust), which will take over all of its operations in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta in southern China.

Port of Hong Kong battles to retain regional market share: A coalition of maritime industry groups including Hong Kong shipowners claims that Hong Kong's status as a shipping hub is being eroded by the recent growth of neighbouring centres such as Shanghai and Singapore. A spokesperson for the alliance said: 'If the situation does not change, the development of Hong Kong's maritime industry, as well as its economic development and prosperity, will be hampered'. The Hong Kong government has already taken steps to stimulate shipping growth at the port, having recently introduced measures to reduce a series of maritime-related fees at the port by a combined US$5.9mn a year.

With the fortunes of Hong Kong's shipping sector inexorably linked to those of the Chinese economy, BMI sees risks to our forecasts to the upside as well as the downside in 2011. BMI has recently upgraded its forecasts for Chinese GDP growth in 2011 from 7.5% to 8.3%, and further revisions may occur should Beijing choose to renege on plans to cut money supply, thereby sparking a further import boom.
